These are definitions of technical words you may be struggling with or may be curious about.
- Domain
- A domain is a group of computer user accounts, computers and devices on a network that are administered as a unit with common rules and procedures.
- Microsoft Exchange
- For the sake of this tutorial it is adequate to define Microsoft Exchange as an Email and office collaboration system that runs on one or more network servers and is accessed by users who have been given accounts on that server by CASA IT staff.
- Outlook Web Access (OWA)
- Outlook Web Access, also known as OWA, is an interface on our CASA Email server that allows you to access your Email from any computer that has Internet access, using only a web browser.
- Password
- The user name and password combination is unique to every person in the CASA domain. They are assigned by CASA IT staff. No two people have the same user name. The password is typically the most confidential of the log on credentials but both are needed for log on and should both be treated with confidentiality. It is always best with both user names and passwords, to assume they are case sensitive and to enter them in exactly the way they were given to you.
- User Name
- The user name is unique to every person in the CASA domain. No two people have the same user name. Confused and wondering what your user name is? What is your Email address? If your name was Fred Flinstone and your Email were "fflinstone@casa.sjsu.edu" it is a pretty safe bet your user name would be "fflinstone."
